Lore
You play as spirits who have been given a second chance at life. The god of death has allowed you to inhabit your choice of the corpses of adventurers who have attempted to invade the underworld. If you can fight your way to the surface, you will be free
Rules
- Each player generates 5 characters and chooses 1. Alternatively, the entire party can generate a single pool of characters. The pool contains 4 characters for every member of the party, and each player must choose one with no repetition
- Characters with multiple classes ignore normal multiclassing rules and instead act as if they have each listed class individually. This means you get all relevant weapon/armor/etc. proficiencies, and therefore may get things like the extra attack or spellcasting feature (and therefore spell slots) multiple times
- You have exactly the ability scores listed. Do not add any modifiers from your race, feats, or ability score increases granted by a class
- You are proficient in exactly the saving throws and skills listed, ignoring the usual list from your class(es) and background
- You know exactly the spells and cantrips listed, ignoring any rules from your class(es) and subclass(es) for these. All your spells may be used with any spellcasting feature you may have using the relevant class's ability score, but you may still only cast spells for which you have an appropriately leveled spell slot. All spells you know count as prepared if relevant. If you don't have the spellcasting feature, ignore the spell list
- You may not trade your equipment with other player characters in your party
- You are free to choose for any other part of your character not explicitly given by the generator. This mostly means things like character name and personality, and potentially any choices needed for your class or subclass (but not spells), such as which skills to take expertise in, metamagic options, etc.
- To play, generate a level 6 dungeon (e.g. using https://donjon.bin.sh/d20/dungeon/) and adventure through it. For every completed encounter each member of the party generates 1 new character and may take a property from it, replacing the equivalent on their own character. Properties you can take include:
- An ability score
- A feat
- One inventory item (replaces an item of your choice)
- A cantrip (replaces a cantrip you know of your choice)
- A spell (replaces a spell you know of your choice)
- Any items you find in the dungeon or any experience points you gain work as normal
- At the end of the dungeon players must take a long rest, followed by a PvP free-for-all. Only the player who wins this fight gets to escape the dungeon
